Dear family and everyone else,
So this week, well...I am getting prepared for my birthday this coming Friday. I bought a white cake with frosting, and blue frosting balloons on the sides. It looks just like something I would have ordered for a birthday party. It somewhat reminds me of my extended family and my immediate family, with all the good times at my house, parties and all.
Transfer calls! It's that time again. It has come to my attention (since last night), that I will be staying with Elder Shepherd this last time in the Northland Ward for these next 6 weeks. After that, he will be flying home to North Carolina, and be reunited with his family and catch up on his sleep and repair his worn out body.
Last night we were able to go on splits with a new member to our ward, Brother Stokes. He's on fire with the gospel and sharing it. He came from Union Ward. He didn't get the chance to go on a mission and encouraged us to continue pressing forward and sharing the best message to the world--the restored gospel, or 'good news.' How wonderful the gospel of Jesus Christ really is. We have the gift of repentance, somebody to have faith on to save us from death and redeem us from sin. Accept this gift, and come unto Christ, for he shall perfect you. I have come to learn that Godhood was never meant to be easy to obtain or to become. Do you know what it means to become like our Heavenly Father? We must become completely selfless, pure in heart and mind, kind, gentle, meek, humble, patient, and any other good quality you can see in the example of others, and throughout the scriptures. Without Christlike attributes, the world would be utterly wasted and full of sin or despair for there would be no good without religion.
Yesterday, we had a good dinner message at the Rice's home. We read in 3 Nephi 12 about becoming the salt of the earth, and becoming a light, or a lighthouse in a dark world or a stormy place. Salt is a garnishment in food. It gives it a kick--a better taste, so when Christ said to us to be the salt of the earth, he really meant us to become the sweetness the world can bring. Be ye an example of the believers of Christ--the true believers of the Christian religion. I thank you all for the wonderful help you and my family have given me to come out on my mission. I have received some news that some missionaries have returned safely after a good 2 years of service to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
We haven't done a whole lot of teaching besides that. We did teach Corey Scherringa the plan of salavation, but that's about the only update with our investigators. Oh yes, we did wash and vacuum out Marcia Baker's red car. It looks so shiny and new again, inside out out. We also vacuumed out a lot of dog hair and grass. When she drove it again on Sunday, she said she felt like she was in a new car again. It was well needed. She was very grateful. That's about it this week, folks. Love you all, and pray that Utah doesn't go back into a dry desert due to that algae bloom. I will also pray for you all. Love you.
