I am sad to hear that my favorite apostle, Elder Richard G. Scott, died Tuesday afternoon. We were doing Mormon.org time when we saw the news first thing. The last time 3 died like this was in the early 1900's I've heard. He was a good man. Just before I started e-mailing, I saw his funeral was streaming. Sadly, I barely missed it, so I will try to re-watch it very shortly.
This week we helped welcome in the 3 new sisters into the Spanish Branch here in Crows Landing. We helped coordinate dinners for them with ours so they had something to eat. Then Sunday their Relief Society President told us that we can't have dinner with the Rosa's anymore. That left us with no dinner this Wednesday. There was no warning shot. We felt like our backs were stabbed. Elder Nielsen said that this area has a lot of pride in it. It was a little rash to say, but we are dealing with it. We are luckily well stocked with food anyways.
This week, President Palmer showed up to district meeting by surprise. I asked him where Elder Fowers went and he told me that he went home 2 months early because of his heart condition. Also maybe his ingrown toe as well. I was very sad to hear he left without me calling or saying goodbye. He was a good district leader. Then he also popped into sacrament meeting Sunday and got to meet the members. He is just full of surprises. We did meet a man named Isaac last night. Nice guy. Told us a lot of the history around Patterson and Gustine. Things have really changed. There used to be a hospital in Patterson. Now ambulances have to go all the way to Turlock or Modesto. Patterson has 22,000 people in it. Gustine is becoming more of a ghost town for some reason. Not much goes on down there anyways. We asked him to watch "Because He lives" and then we had to leave before we ran out of time to get in. We are hoping to see him again very soon. Now only if the Jehovah Witness would stop going over there. They can be annoying sometimes. I'm like no, we are going to win this battle. Sorry.
So not too much of a good week but oh well, what can you do.
Until next week,
Elder White
