Dear family and everyone else,
Just before I started e-mailing, some elders that are serving in the hills and mountains of Jackson brought down snow in their truck bed. It was really fun watching them all throw snow balls at each other. It is a white holiday after all. I'm just glad I could at least touch snow this winter. It doesn't snow here in the valley. The last time it snowed here was in the 80's. I am also enjoying some Enya as I am writing this. It's quite soothing. My family sent me a flash drive with some music on it that I asked for. Other stuff they went on their own. Thanks family. I love it.
So anyways, this week has been slow in teaching but really fun in general. We had Christmas Eve dinner with the Kelly's. They know my grandpa so therefore, they know my family. It's interesting how many connections are made between California and Utah. They aren't far after all. We also had Christmas dinner with the Hazelhofer's. Brother Hazelhofer just got promoted to 1st councilor in the bishopric, and brother Gonzalez just got released from serving 6 years. Now, we have brother Green as 2nd councilor.
On Saturday, we were tired, so we rested at a park by a Muslim mosque and one Muslim came to talk to us for a 1/2 an hour. Then his friend showed up who was Jehovah's witness. So there we were, the Mormons, the Muslim, and the Jehovah Witness talking about religion. I learned for myself that there are 3 branch's of Muslim's. One believes in other prophets after Muhammad, two, the traditionals, and 3 the extremist. We ended up talking for 2 hours with them. While we talked, some random guy comes up and starts saying he was healed by Jesus and saw him in a dream. He said, "His face shone like bronze, his eyes were like lightning. His hair was white, and his apparel." It matched the description in the Bible, Joseph Smith, and Lorenzo Snow's accounts, although he also said there were rainbow's everywhere. He sounded crazy to all 4 of us. He was also using drugs at the time, so that might have contributed. So overall, this week has been interesting.
We had our Christmas mission devotional at the mission office. Elder Wardle played his guitar and played "Be Still My Soul, and I know That My Redeemer Lives." Everyone loved that night. He played well. Also, when I got off from skyping my family, I talked with Elder Wardle's parents. He has his mom's looks and his dad's personality. Like the normal teen, he does not like his bed made or made for him. I've gotten used to it.
We did confirm Jenny a member yesterday, so that was a great plus. Well, that's number 8 for me. Have a great week everyone.
