Dear family and everyone else,
One very interesting thing happened last night. We stopped by a member named Brother West. He is fascinated with Book of Mormon History research and archeology. He has learned for himself some very interesting facts that point towards the Book of Mormon. For example, archeologists miraculously found a carving of Lehi's dream. Some names like Lehi or Sariah were also engraved. The Aztec's came around 1000 years after the presumed war with the Nephites. The other cultures matched dates with the Book of Mormon through 15 foot calendars that marked different events. Lastly, the small neck of land and the area of many waters were identified around Central America like everybody thought. It all made sense to me now. We know where the Bible took place but not so much the Book of Mormon. It's quite small really. The church however will never accept or deny evidence. We are to continue to rely on FAITH.
On Thursday, we met with Elder Hamula of the first quorum of the 70. He shared some insight for the new mission and answered some of our questions. One was a concern about former mission cultures. Elder Hamula told us to repent if we are still holding onto old mission cultures. I agreed with him. We are in a new mission with new rules. It's time to change.
For this week in our proselyting, we haven't had much success. We got in a couple of doors but found out that some had to go somewhere like going out to dinner, so we set up some new appointments for this week. Caroline that I have mentioned, is still very busy with her teenagers and ailing mom. We are hoping to get in contact tomorrow afternoon. We have plans on exchanging again with the Turlock 5th ward Elders again tonight. This time Elder Fowers is coming to me in my area. I have received confirmation that he is indeed my 5th cousin. Nothing closer though. Now I can move on from it. Other than that nothing new.
Have a great week everyone,
Elder White
